Glancing back... A look at yesteryear

Camp White Lake
In its heyday catered to adults and children, giving them a reprieve from the hot city streets. As shown above in 1923, the beautiful modern building, located midway down the hill, just past the present El Monaco's Restaurant, does not look like a "camp" but more like a resort. Paul Messmer was caretaker of the grounds and lived in a cottage across the street on Route 17B, which passes through the village of White Lake.
